Woodpecker
Woodpecker is one of two pods in Hayle, Cornwall. It's on a small, rural park that's sheltered by trees.
It sleeps four. There's one bedroom with bunk beds, and the main space has a double bed. One bathroom with a walk-in shower. The kitchenette is modern enough. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's clean and functional rather than luxurious.
You can bring one dog. There's parking right next to the pod.
The pod is open plan, but the bunk bed room is separate, which is handy if you've got kids. The sofa faces the TV. It's quiet at night, good if you like stargazing.
On the campsite next to the pods, there's a small shop that does fresh croissants and coffee in the morning. They also sell local drinks. There's a laundrette, and indoor and outdoor play areas for children.
Gwithian Beach is about five minutes away by car. It's three miles of sand, popular with surfers and families. There's a coffee shop there.
St Ives is under ten miles. The drive is scenic, but parking can be difficult in summer. The open-top bus or the train from St Erth are good alternatives. Hayle town is a five-minute drive or a 25-minute walk. It has a long beach and is useful for shops.
In the other direction, towards Penzance, Marazion and St Michael's Mount are about 15 minutes away. You can walk out to the mount at low tide. The town has galleries, shops, and a large play area by the car park.
The South West Coast Path is easily accessible for walks. For a wider range of local information, the National Trust Cornwall and Cornwall National Landscape sites are useful.
The other pod, Owl, is identical. You can book both together if you need space for up to eight.
