Bruce's Cottage is in Whitecross, which is a small hamlet inland from St Ives. It's semi-detached. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you've got kids or a dog. It looks out over fields.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, which helps a lot with that many people. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well kept. The owners did the place up themselves, so there are some original features, like the stonework. It feels solid.
You're about four miles from the coast here. For a big beach day, you'd drive to Marazion or Carbis Bay. St Michael's Mount is just past Marazion. The coastal train from St Erth into St Ives is a good way to avoid the parking, which can be a nightmare in summer.
Locally, you can walk up Trencrom Hill. It's a National Trust site and the view from the top is worth it, you can see both coasts. The Hayle Estuary is good for birdwatching.
Penzance is about ten minutes by car. Mousehole, Newlyn, Lands End, and St Ives are all within a half hour drive. St Ives has the Tate gallery and plenty of places to eat. If you're into gardens, the Trebah and Glendurgan ones are about a 45 minute drive.
For facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and parking for two cars on the drive. We've got a cot, highchair, and a stairgate if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. No pets, sorry.
