Owl

The place is in Hayle, Cornwall. It's a pod called Owl. There's another one next door called Woodpecker, but you wouldn't know they were there. They're in a bit of woodland, so it feels private.

It sleeps four. It's one room basically, with a double bed and a kitchen area. There's a separate little bunk room for kids off the back. You get your own shower room too, which is a good size. It gets the sun on the deck in the morning.

It's a 3 Star place. Everything works, it's clean and modern, but it's not posh. It's a pod. The beds are comfortable and the shower is hot. That's the main thing.

The campsite it's on has a laundrette, which is handy. There's a small shop that sells basics, and they do fresh croissants and coffee in the mornings. You can bring a dog, one is fine.

Gwithian beach is about five minutes away in the car. It's a huge sandy beach, good for surfing or just a long walk. St Ives is about twenty minutes drive. Parking there is a nightmare, so I'd get the train from Hayle or St Erth. It's a nice ride along the coast.

You're in a good spot for getting about. The National Trust have a lot of places nearby like Godrevy and St Michael's Mount. Penzance is fifteen minutes one way, Portreath about twenty the other. You can get to most of West Cornwall within half an hour.

For planning things, the Cornwall Council outdoors site is useful for walks and beaches.
