The Light House

The Light House is in Gwithian village. It's not an actual lighthouse. It's a house, detached, with a big lawn garden out the back and a patio. Good for sitting out.

It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. One bedroom is on the ground floor. It's a double but it's a small room, so it's really best for one person. There's a roller blind you can pull across to separate that bit of the ground floor from the living space if you want. Upstairs, the main bedroom has a kingsize bed and you can see the sea from the window. There's a bunk bed room, and then another twin room up on the second floor. The stairs to that top floor are steep, like a ship's ladder. Just so you know.

The beach at Gwithian Towans is about a 20 minute walk. It's a big, sandy beach, good for surfing and wind sports. Dog friendly most of the year, with some summer restrictions. The train to St Ives from St Erth is close by. The track runs right along the coast, the views are great.

St Ives is about a 15 minute drive. It's busy. Good for art, the Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum are there. For a different coast, the stretch from St Ives to St Just is wild, moorland right to the cliffs. The National Trust looks after a lot of it.

In the house: washing machine, dishwasher, TV, WiFi, cot and highchair if needed. All bedding and towels are included. There's parking for two cars on the drive. You can bring two dogs.

There's a shop in the village and a local pub. For a bigger shop, Hayle is five minutes away.
