Bolivar Barn

Bolivar Barn is in Lanner, Cornwall. It's a converted pig barn, attached to our house. It sleeps two. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well kept.

The stairs inside are quite steep. The front door is wheelchair accessible, but the rest of the place isn't really set up for it because of the stairs and the shower layout.

You've got your own garden terrace out the front. It gets the sun in the morning and afternoon. There's a wood burner for cooler evenings. Bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, a cot, and a highchair if you need them. You can bring one dog.

Lanner village is a couple of minutes' drive. It's got a shop, a bakery, a fish and chip shop, and two pubs. You don't have to go far for basics.

For the coast, Portreath and Porthtowan are about 15 minutes away by car. Both have dog friendly beaches. For walking, there are paths right from the back of the barn. One leads to an old quarry that's been made into an open-air theatre.

If you want to explore, Carn Brea is about 20 minutes away. The views from the top are good, you can see both coasts. Wear proper shoes if you go up the monument. Tehidy Woods is also about 20 minutes. It's a big woodland with lakes and paths, good for a flat walk. It can get muddy.

For a day out, the Heartlands visitor centre near Camborne is about 20 minutes. It's free and covers Cornish mining history. They have gardens and exhibitions.

Useful links for planning: National Trust Cornwall and Cornwall Council Countryside for walking, and Cornish Mining World Heritage for the local history.
