Skipper's Rest is in East Cowes, just outside Newport. It's a terraced house on a normal residential street. It's functional and clean.
It sleeps four, in two double bedrooms. There's a bathroom upstairs and another ensuite off the main bedroom. The stairs are quite steep.
The garden is round the back. It's enclosed, so it's safe for dogs or kids. There's a patio area.
Inside, there are two sitting rooms. One has a wood burning stove. The kitchen is off the smaller living room. It has everything you need. The rating is 3 Star, which is accurate. It's comfortable, not luxurious.
You can walk to the seafront in about ten minutes. There's a play park and a paddling pool there in summer. The chain ferry across to West Cowes is a five minute walk. It runs all the time and takes three minutes. That gets you to the shops and the main yachting bits.
Osborne House is very close, maybe a fifteen minute walk. It's the main attraction here. English Heritage have all the details.
For a day out, you're about twenty minutes' drive from Ryde and its long beach. Newport is ten minutes away for bigger supermarkets. The west of the island, like The Needles, is about forty minutes by car.
Facilities: WiFi, TV, washing machine, wood burner. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot available. You can bring up to two dogs.
