Goonearl Cottage

This is Goonearl Cottage, near Wheal Rose in Cornwall. It's a big place. It used to be two miners' cottages knocked together, so the layout is a bit all over the place, but that's part of it. Dates back to the late 1700s.

It sleeps sixteen. Nine bedrooms, eight bathrooms. That's why it's a 3 Star rating. It's clean and functional, not luxurious, but it works for a big group. You can bring up to four dogs.

The garden is decent sized and enclosed. The conservatory looks out onto it. We see lots of birds and the odd fox. There's a wood burner in the main living room. The kitchen is a galley style, but it's got two cooking areas so a few people can be in there at once without getting in each other's way.

It's a quiet spot. You're about two miles from the north coast. Wheal Coates mine is right there and the coast path is stunning. National Trust Wheal Coates. Beaches like Chapel Porth are close.

In the other direction, you've got Falmouth and the Lizard peninsula. The most southerly point is about a forty minute drive. Truro is half an hour for the cathedral and shops. Redruth and Camborne are nearer, about fifteen minutes. You can walk up Carn Brea and see for miles.

Facilities: there's parking, a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. We've got a cot and highchair. The local pub is a ten minute walk. They do food.
