The Observatory

The Observatory is in Lanreath, Cornwall. It's in a quiet paddock on our land. It's a detached tiny house built with copper and zinc. It sleeps two.

The main thing is the view and the sky. There's a large skylight right above the bed so you can lie there and look up. On a clear night you can see the stars really well. It's dark here.

Inside, it's one open plan room. There's a king size bed, a wood burner, and a bathroom with a shower. The finish is oak and brass. It's comfortable. There are six stained-glass porthole windows.

Outside, there's a private patio with a cedar hot tub. It looks out over the valley.

The local area is good for walking. Bodmin Moor is about twenty minutes drive for tors and big views. The coast at Looe or Polperro is a fifteen to twenty minute drive. Fowey is a bit further, maybe twenty-five minutes. It has shops and places to eat.

Facilities: there's parking right by it, bedding and towels are included, and we allow one dog. The electricity is included. It's all on one level inside, but there are a couple of steps up to the front door.

If you're planning trips, the National Trust Cornwall site is useful, and so is Visit Cornwall.
