The Old Farmhouse

The Old Farmhouse is on Polean Farm in Pelynt. It's a semi-detached place, part of a group of cottages that used to be farm buildings. It sleeps nine, with five bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating.

The farm is down a small lane off the main road between Looe and Polperro. You're in the countryside here. The local shop and pub are about a mile away in the village. The coast is just under two miles.

Being an old farmhouse, the ceilings are low in some places. The stairs are typical for a building this age. The place is full of character, but it's not a modern new-build.

On the farm itself, there's animal feeding on weekday mornings where kids can help with the lambs and goats. It's a working livery yard too, so there are horses about. There's a games room on site, which is useful if the weather turns.

As a guest, you get use of an indoor heated swimming pool at a holiday complex a few minutes' drive away. It's not free all the time, some sessions have a charge. It's also closed during August. The same complex has evening entertainment most nights in season. That's free to use.

For the coast, Looe is about three miles. It's a proper fishing harbour with a beach. Polperro is a bit further, maybe four miles. It's a smaller, historic harbour. You can walk between them on the coast path if you're feeling energetic.

Further afield, you've got the Eden Project about half an hour's drive. Fowey is a lovely town for a wander, maybe 25 minutes. For a bigger beach, you could drive to Whitsand Bay or go over to the north coast around Newquay, both within 45 minutes.

Facilities here include a wood burner, dishwasher, WiFi, and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking on site. You can bring up to two dogs. There's a garden with a BBQ, and they've got a cot and highchair if you need them.
