The Haven

The Haven is a caravan on a permanent park just outside Cockermouth. It's detached. The main thing about it is that it's seriously dog-friendly. It says up to four pets are allowed, which is a lot.

It sleeps four in two bedrooms. One king, one twin. One bathroom with a shower. It's got its own enclosed decking area off the living space, which is good for dogs. The living area is open plan, so the kitchen, dining and sitting area are all together.

The park itself is quiet. It's a short walk or a very short drive into the town centre. Cockermouth is a proper market town. There are some good independent shops and a few pubs that do food. Jennings Brewery is there if you like a tour. Wordsworth's birthplace is in the town, Wordsworth House and Garden.

You're right on the edge of the Lake District. Buttermere and Crummock Water are about a 20 minute drive. Loweswater is even closer. You can drive to the foot of Skiddaw in maybe 25 minutes. The Lake District National Park site is useful for walking routes.

For facilities, it's all there. Wifi, TV, parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine. The garden is enclosed, which is why it works for dogs. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well equipped and comfortable.
