Meadows View Shepherd's Hut
This is the shepherd's hut. It's on our farm, Meadows Farm, about two miles outside Cockermouth. You're next to the yard where we actually work, so you'll see tractors and sheep. It's not remote, it's a proper working place. The view from the front doors is just fields, all the way to the fells.
It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well done inside. It sleeps four, but it's one room really, with a sofa bed. Best for a couple or a small family. There's a decent kitchen area with a hob, a combi oven that does microwave and grill, and a toaster. The bathroom is modern, with a good shower. There's a wood-fired hot tub outside. You get that to yourselves.
You can bring one dog. We ask that you keep it on a lead when you're outside near the farm buildings, because of our livestock.
Cockermouth is a five minute drive. It's a good little town. There's a co-op, some nice cafes, and Jennings Brewery does tours. Wordsworth's house is there if that's your thing.
For getting out, Bassenthwaite Lake is about ten minutes away. Good for a walk and you might see the ospreys. Whinlatter Forest is maybe fifteen minutes drive. They've got mountain bike trails and Go Ape there. The coast at Allonby is twenty minutes or so. It's a bit different, that Solway coast. Big skies.
On the facilities: you've got your own patio with the hot tub and a BBQ. There's parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. We can put a cot in if you need one. The WiFi works fine.
