The Fold At Hallin Bank

The Fold is at Hallin Bank, in the Martindale valley. It's a single-storey stone building, a converted bit of an old farmstead. You have it to yourself. The views are good, straight down the valley.

It sleeps three, all in one loft room upstairs. There's a double bed and a single. One bathroom with a shower on the ground floor. It's a 3 Star place, so it's comfortable and clean but not luxury. The stairs up to the bedroom are a proper ladder staircase, so you need to be okay with that.

The main room has a wood-burning stove. The low windows on one side used to be doors for the animals. There's a raised sofa area you can curtain off if you want.

Outside, there's a private terrace. You can walk through the orchard to the beck. The valley itself is very quiet. You can walk straight up onto the fells from the door. Hallin Fell is right there.

Ullswater is about a 20 minute walk down the lane. You can swim there, or go to the jetty at Howtown for the steamer. The Ullswater Steamer is a good way to see the lake without driving. Aira Force waterfall is about a 15 minute drive.

For a pub or shop, you need to go to Pooley Bridge. That's a 10 minute drive. They have a few places to eat and a small supermarket.

You can bring up to two dogs. There's parking for one car. Bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine. The garden is enclosed.

Sometimes I or someone else might be working on the land nearby, like chopping wood or repairing a wall. We'll stay out of your way.
