Rattlebeck Cottage
Rattlebeck Cottage is in Glenridding at the foot of Helvellyn. It's detached, so it's just you and the garden. The garden is on a slope, but the view is good. You can see the fell side from it.
The cottage sleeps two. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable but simple. It's got an open fire you can use.
The place is clean and warm. There’s a washing machine, towels are included, and you can park right outside. WiFi works fine.
Glenridding village is about a five minute walk. There's a couple of pubs that do food, a cafe, and a shop for basics. The lake is right there.
You can walk up Helvellyn from the door if you want a big day out. The path for Striding Edge starts nearby. For something less steep, the walk along Ullswater to Aira Force waterfall is good. You can also get the steamer boat on the lake from Glenridding pier.
Within half an hour's drive you can get to Keswick, or over Kirkstone Pass to Ambleside and Windermere.
