Striding Edge Cottage
Striding Edge Cottage is in Glenridding, Cumbria. It's up the side of Helvellyn, about a thousand feet up, so the views are good. You look out over the valley and Ullswater.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, one is an en-suite. It's got a 4 Star rating. We finished renovating it in 2023, so it's in good order.
There's a wood burning stove in the living room. The kitchen has what you need. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking, WiFi, and a TV.
You can bring one dog. There's a highchair if you need it. The garden has a patio area.
The location is what it's about. You're right on the path for walking up Helvellyn. Striding Edge is there if you want it, but there are easier routes too. A waterfall is next to the property, so you can hear it from outside. Be careful there, the rocks can be slippery.
Glenridding village is a short walk down the hill for the pub and a shop. You can get boat trips on Ullswater from there. For other walks, the Lake District National Park site is useful. National Trust Ullswater has information on the steamer and their walks around Aira Force.
Within about half an hour you can drive to other bits of Ullswater, or over to Keswick. Pooley Bridge is at the other end of the lake. There's local fishing and horse riding if you arrange it.
