The Farmhouse at Hallin Bank is up a single-track lane in Martindale, Cumbria. It's at the end of the road. You've got 11 acres of land to yourselves, mostly steep fellside.
It's an old farmhouse, from the 1600s. The walls are thick, and some of them aren't straight. That's just how it is. It sleeps six. Three bedrooms: one king, one double, one twin. One bathroom with a shower.
There are two wood-burning stoves, one in the sitting room and one in the dining room. The kitchen has what you need. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean but it's not a show home. It's a proper old house.
The view from the front is over the Martindale valley towards Ullswater. You can walk down to the lake in about fifteen minutes. There's also a bit of the river on the land if you fancy a paddle.
For walking, you can start right from the door. Hallin Fell is straight up behind the house. The path to Beda Fell starts nearby too. For a good waterfall walk, Aira Force is about a 20 minute drive.
Pooley Bridge is the nearest village with shops and a couple of pubs, about 15 minutes by car. Glenridding is similar, on the other end of the lake. You can get the Ullswater Steamer from there.
Things to know: We're sometimes working on the land or the outbuildings. Chopping wood, strimming bracken, that sort of thing. We won't bother you, but you might see us. Also, you're allowed up to three dogs.
Facilities include a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, and parking. Bedding and towels are included.
