Once Upon A Tide

This is the chalet in Bacton, on the North Norfolk coast. It's called Once Upon A Tide. It's a single-storey, end of terrace place on a private park. Sleeps four, two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating.

The main thing is the location. You're about 100 yards from the beach. There's a private gate from the park straight onto the sand. It's a good, sandy beach. The chalet has this wraparound deck with furniture, so you can sit outside.

Inside, it's all open plan. It's furnished to a good standard. The sofas and beds are comfortable. There's a shower, a telly, WiFi, and a dishwasher. Parking is right there. It's enclosed, so it's fine for dogs. You can bring two.

Bacton itself is small. There are two pubs that do food, about a mile away. There's a fish and chip shop and a shop. The park has a big communal grass area as well.

If you want to go further, Cromer is about 13 miles up the coast. Sheringham is 17 miles. Both are classic seaside towns. For the Broads, you'd go to Wroxham, which is also about 13 miles inland. You can hire boats there.

Between December and February, you can go to Horsey beach to see the grey seals and their pups. It's a bit of a drive, but it's something to do.

For local walks and nature, the National Trust's Sheringham Park is good. The Visit Norfolk site has general information for the area.

Included in the price: bedding, towels, electricity. The park is closed over Christmas, but the chalet is decorated if you're booking for the festive season.
