The Castaway is in Mundesley on the Norfolk coast. It’s a Victorian terrace house spread over three floors. It sleeps nine, with five bedrooms and two bathrooms. It’s got a 3 Star rating, so it’s comfortable and clean but not luxurious.
The beach is a short walk away. It's a sandy beach, quite wide and usually quiet. The village centre is about the same distance. There’s a shop, a post office, a few cafés and a pub, all about five minutes on foot.
Inside, it's spacious but it’s a proper old house. The stairs are steep, like you’d expect. There’s a wood burning stove in the living room, which is nice in the evenings. You get a patio area out the back.
The facilities are what you’d need: WiFi, a TV, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding is included. You can bring up to two dogs.
For things to do, Cromer is about seven miles up the coast. It’s busier, with a pier, shops and more places to eat. Sheringham is a bit further, about eleven miles. It’s got an indoor pool and the North Norfolk Railway steam trains start from there.
If you like walking, you’re in the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are plenty of footpaths. For a day out, Norwich is around 40 minutes by car for shopping or the castle museum. The Broads are about half an hour away, near Wroxham, for boat hire or river trips.
A couple of useful links if you're looking into the area: National Trust Norfolk Coast and The Broads Authority.
