The Cottage is on a quiet cul-de-sac up the hill from Island Street in Salcombe. It's detached. You get a private parking space for one car, but it's not big enough for a van.
There are 16 steps from the road up through the garden to the front door. The garden is a patio area with great views over the estuary. You can watch the boats from there.
It sleeps six. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Two are kingsize bedrooms on the first floor, and there's a twin room. The twin room is accessed either from the main house or through one of the other bedrooms, which works well for a family. There's a proper family bathroom upstairs and a shower room downstairs.
The main living room is on the first floor to make the most of the view. It's comfortable, with a TV. There's a small patio off it. Downstairs is an open plan kitchen and dining area, with a snug space.
You're a short walk downhill to the town centre and the water. North Sands and South Sands beaches are about a mile away for swimming. You can hire boats and paddleboards in town.
For walks, the South West Coast Path is right there. If you want to explore further, the National Trust looks after a lot of the coastline nearby, like Overbecks and Bolt Head.
Facilities: it's got WiFi, a TV, a washing machine, dishwasher, and a cot and highchair if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome.
