Coachman's Lodge

Coachman's Lodge is in South Allington. That's near Kingsbridge, less than a mile from the estuary. It's one of the buildings on the old South Allington House estate.

It's a converted barn. It sleeps six. There's a kingsize room with its own shower, plus a twin room and a bunk room. Those two share a bathroom with a bath. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and practical, not high-end.

You get the back garden to yourselves. There's a table, chairs, and a barbecue. It looks out over the grounds. You're also welcome to use the tennis court and the croquet lawn on the main house grounds.

A really good thing about it is the location. You can walk down to the estuary in about 15 minutes. Kingsbridge itself is a five minute drive. They've got the shops and cafes there. For the coast, Salcombe is eight miles one way and Slapton Sands is about seven miles the other. The South West Coast Path is accessible from various points nearby.

Inside, the kitchen has the things you'd expect: oven, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine. The living room has a TV with Freeview. There's WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. Parking is right outside.

Two well-behaved dogs are welcome. The entrance is wheelchair accessible.

If you're looking for ideas for days out, the South Devon National Landscape site has good walking information. The National Trust looks after a lot of the coastline nearby.
