Daisy Cottage is a cosy and stylish three-storey terraced cottage set in the heart of the coastal town of Dawlish in South Devon. Accessed from a cobbled no-traffic street, this two-bedroom cottage is the perfect coastal quintessential base for a couple or a family to enjoy a seaside holiday. The kitchen/dining area is located on the lower ground floor and is well equipped with a dining table and chairs seating four guests. The living area on the ground floor is perfect for relaxing in after a busy day exploring the local area, so kick back and watch a film on the TV. Heading upstairs, there is a family bathroom and two bedrooms.
Dawlish is a great seaside town with everything you need to enjoy your holiday, including an abundance of shops, bars, eateries, takeaways, a theatre, charming gardens and an exciting crazy golf course. There is a launderette conveniently located opposite the cottage as well as The White Hart pub which has a lovely beer garden to the rear. Why not pack a picnic and soak up the sun at the sandy beach, perfect for swimming, exploring the rock pools and building sand castles with the younger guests.
For the ramblers, you can follow the South West Coast Path in two directions to discover breath-taking coastline scenery. Walk along the sea wall to the resort of Dawlish Warren which has a sandy beach with the Exe estuary on one side and the sea on the other, attractions, various local facilities and a wonderful nature reserve to enjoy. The opposite direction takes you to the vibrant coastal town of Teignmouth with a beautiful long promenade, pier, beach restaurants and pubs, where you can sit and watch the world go by.
There is also the opportunity to hire a boat which makes for a great afternoon on the water. Also within driving distance or by seasonal ferry from Starcross, is the popular seaside resort of Exmouth, with its boat tours, fishing opportunities, the historical Pirate Cove, the multiple breathtaking beaches and the remarkable marina. The 3, 500 acre Haldon Hills Forest Park is just 10 minutes’ drive away and is criss-crossed with walking and cycling trails for all abilities, perfectly completed by brunch or a luscious slice of cake in the café.
Nearby there is much to occupy the visitor along the English Riviera coastline including Paignton Zoo, both the Dartmouth and South Devon Steam Railways, and the fishing harbour of Brixham. Day trips to the beaches in the South Hams such as Blackpool Sands and Goodrington Beach also offer a great alternative for a fun day out and they are within an hour’s drive. Venture to Exeter with its castle and cathedral, Exmouth the gateway to the World Heritage Jurassic Coast and Torquay which offers a selection of continental-style cafés and restaurants. Exeter, Paignton and Plymouth are all accessible from Dawlish’s train station.
