Pila Pala

Pila Pala is in Fishguard. It's in Pembrokeshire, so it's on the coast. This one is more glamping than a cottage. It's on a 6-acre site just outside town. You get your own space: a small garden area and separate huts for the bedroom, a kitchen, and a shower.

It sleeps four but it's one bedroom. It's a king-size bed and then two single sofa beds in the living space. It’s a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. It’s all on the ground floor and is wheelchair accessible.

The site has hammocks and benches. You get your own fire-pit outside. There’s hardly any light pollution here, so the stars on a clear night are really something.

There’s a place on site, Tregroes Pantry, that does evening meals four nights a week and a Sunday roast. They sometimes have music on Friday nights in the summer. That runs from Easter to the end of September.

You can walk into Fishguard easily. It’s a proper Welsh harbour town. There are a few cafes, some restaurants, and a couple of pubs. They have festivals sometimes, like Aberjazz.

The coast path is less than a mile away. The beaches here are a mix of sand and pebble, and it's generally quieter than the south of the county. Strumble Head is a couple of miles west. The views from there are stunning, and there's a famous lighthouse. You can often see dolphins and seals from the headland.

Inland, the Preseli Hills are about 20 minutes’ drive. Good walking there, and some ancient sites like Pentre Ifan burial chamber. The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park site has all the details for walking and wildlife. The National Trust Wales page is useful too, as they look after a lot of the coastline here.

Facilities: bedding is included. There’s WiFi, on-site parking, and a kitchen hut. One well-behaved dog is allowed. You can book other units on the same site if you're a bigger group.
