Barngarth
This is Barngarth. It's in Cartmel, south of the Lakes proper. The cottage itself is a converted barn, set back from the village square a bit.
It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms are super king size beds, the other is a twin. There are two bathrooms, one has just a shower. The stairs up to the top floor bedroom are quite steep, just so you know.
It's a 5 Star place, which means it's been finished to a high standard. Underfloor heating on the ground floor, a wood burner in the living room, that sort of thing. The kitchen is well-equipped if you're planning to cook. The garden at the back is enclosed and gets the sun in the afternoon.
Cartmel is small. You can walk to everything. There's the priory, a couple of good pubs, a shop, and the racecourse. The famous sticky toffee pudding comes from here. Visit Cumbria has a decent overview.
You're on the edge of the Lake District National Park. Grange-over-Sands is a couple of miles away. The southern lakes like Windermere are about a 15-20 minute drive. You can get to Coniston Water, or over to Ulverston, in under half an hour. The National Park Authority site is best for walking routes and parking.
For facilities: WiFi, TV, washing machine, all bedding and towels are included. There's parking for two cars on the drive. No pets allowed.
