The Moorings is in Grange over Sands. It's a 1920s semi-detached house next to our place. It's on a hill, so the views from the front are good. You look out over the town and the bay.
It sleeps seven. Three bedrooms, three bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's been done up, so it's in good order. It's on three floors. The stairs are normal, not a spiral or anything.
The living room is at the front with big windows for the view. There's a wood burner. The kitchen is at the back. There's a utility room and a shower room on the ground floor too. The main bedroom has an en-suite. Up on the second floor is a room with three singles.
Outside, there's an enclosed garden at the back. The garage is for bike storage. You can park two, maybe three cars on the drive depending on size.
The town centre is a short walk downhill. There's a few shops, cafes, and a couple of pubs that do food. The promenade is flat and traffic-free. The train station is there too, with lines to Lancaster and along the coast.
Cartmel is two miles away. It's famous for the racecourse, the sticky toffee pudding, and L'Enclume. Kendal and Windermere are about twenty minutes by car. For a bigger day out, Coniston, Hawkshead, and Ambleside are all within half an hour.
For local walks, Yewbarrow Woods is close by. For wider planning, the Lake District National Park site is useful. If you're interested in historic houses, Sizergh Castle and Holker Hall are nearby.
Included: all bedding and towels, WiFi, a TV, washing machine, dishwasher. There's a cot, highchair, and stairgate if you need them. No pets.
