The Moorings

The Moorings is in Grange over Sands. It's a semi-detached house from the 1920s on three floors, set back above the town so you get the views over the bay. It's next to our place, but you've got your own entrance and garden.

It sleeps seven. There are three bedrooms: two king bedrooms on the first floor, and a room with three singles up on the second floor. That top room works well for kids. There are three bathrooms, which is handy. One is a shower room on the ground floor. The main bedroom has its own ensuite.

The living room has big windows for the view and a wood burner for cooler evenings. The kitchen is through the back. There's a utility room with a washing machine, and a garage you can use for bike storage.

The garden at the back is enclosed. It's got a patio and a bit of lawn. You can sit out there and it's sheltered.

The town centre is a short walk downhill. There's a Co-op, a few pubs, cafes, and places to eat. The promenade is flat and traffic-free, good for a stroll. The train station is there too, with services along the coast.

You're well placed here for the south Lakes without being in the busiest spots. Cartmel is only two miles away for the priory, the races, or L'Enclume. Sizergh Castle and Holker Hall are close. Kendal is about eight miles.

For the central lakes, Windermere, Bowness, and Ambleside are roughly a half-hour drive. Coniston and Hawkshead are a bit further. You can get to the start of many good walks within 30 minutes.

Facilities: there's parking for one car on the drive. Bedding and towels are included. We provide a cot, highchair, and stairgate. There's a BBQ in the garden. No pets, sorry.
