Mungeon Barn is on an estate we run as a family, near Backbarrow. It's detached and sleeps eight. There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms, which are all on the ground floor. The main living area is upstairs. That's where the kitchen, dining, and sitting room are, with a wood burner. There's a second living room downstairs with a TV.
It's a 5 Star place. That means it's well-finished and has the things you'd expect for a larger group. The master bedroom has an en-suite with a big shower. The other bathrooms have showers too, and one has a bath.
Outside, there's a private hot tub and a barbecue area in a courtyard. The property is wheelchair accessible at the entrance.
The estate is set up to be eco-friendly. There's a tarn on site for fishing, and some private woodland you can walk in. There's also some Belted Galloway cattle about.
Location wise, it's in the South Lakes. The Haverthwaite Steam Railway is about two miles away. You can get the train from there to Bowness-on-Windermere. Newby Bridge is close too, which has the Lakes Aquarium and Windermere lake cruises.
Cartmel is a short drive. It's known for the racecourse, sticky toffee pudding, and some very good restaurants. There's a shop two miles away, and a pub about a mile and a half.
The coast is about five miles if you fancy the sea. For walking, the Lake District National Park authority site is useful for planning. National Trust Lake District has details on their local properties and walks too.
In terms of what's here: all bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and parking. We can provide a cot and highchair. No pets, sorry.
