Riverview Apartment
Riverview Apartment is in Backbarrow. It's a one-bedroom place for two people. You're right over the River Leven, which is nice to look at. It's part of the old Ironworks buildings. The old 1711 blast furnace is still there out the front.
It's got a 4 Star rating. Everything's on one level, so it's all wheelchair accessible. The layout is open plan. There's parking right outside.
Inside, it's got what you'd need. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included.
The river goes from Windermere down to Morecambe Bay. People kayak on it. Sometimes you see salmon jumping.
The Haverthwaite steam railway is very close. You can get the train from there to Bowness-on-Windermere. It's a nice ride.
Newby Bridge is five minutes away by car. That's where you'll find the Lakes Aquarium and where you can get a boat out onto Windermere. There are a couple of pubs there by the river. The nearest place to eat here is about a five-minute walk.
For a proper shop, you'll need to drive about seven miles. The coast at Morecambe Bay is about a twenty-minute drive.
It's a good base for the southern Lakes. You can get to Windermere, Ambleside, and Coniston all within half an hour. For wider walking, the Lake District National Park site is useful. If you're interested in the local industrial history, the English Heritage page for Furness Abbey might be relevant.
