April Cottage

April Cottage is in Staveley in Cartmel. It's a white cottage that used to be a store for making brooms, I think. It's small, for four people. Two bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom downstairs.

The stairs are wooden and a bit steep, like a lot of cottages. There's a small woodburner for when it gets cold. The kitchen has what you need, nothing flashy. There's a washing machine. WiFi works.

The big thing here is the location. You're in a very quiet hamlet, but you're five minutes from the bottom of Windermere. Fell Foot is just down the road if you want a gentle park by the water. You can walk straight out of the door up onto Gummers How. It's a proper hill. The views from the top are very good.

Cartmel is ten minutes by car. It's got the famous sticky toffee pudding shop and the priory. Ulverston is about ten minutes the other way. They've got a high street with shops and a few restaurants.

You're about twenty minutes from places like Ambleside, Coniston, and Grange-over-Sands. The Grizedale Forest for cycling is about twenty minutes. The Lake District National Park site has walking routes if you want to plan something.

There's a local pub you can walk to. It's about half a mile. They do food.

We take one well-behaved dog. There's a stairgate and a highchair if you need them. All bedding and towels are included.

It's a 4 Star place. That means it's comfortable and everything works. It's clean and tidy. It's a good base if you want to be out walking most of the day, not a show home you sit in all weekend.
