Thorn Cottage

Thorn Cottage is in Spark Bridge, which is between Lowick Green and Greenodd. It's a detached cottage, so you've got it to yourselves. The garden's not huge but it's private and you can sit out.

It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. One of those bathrooms is an en-suite off the main bedroom. It's a 3 Star place, so it's comfortable and clean but not luxurious. It's got character, like the open fire in the dining room and the wood burner in the living room. The stairs are old cottage stairs, so they're a bit steep and winding. Just something to be aware of.

There's a big conservatory on the back, which is nice when the sun's out. The kitchen has everything you'd need. It feels like a proper family house.

The nearest pub that does food is about a three minute walk away. There's a shop in Greenodd, about a mile down the road. For a bigger shop, Ulverston is four miles away. It's a good market town with plenty of options.

You're well placed here for getting about. Newby Bridge and Backbarrow are ten minutes by car. From there you can get the steam train to Lakeside, or visit the aquarium. The Lake District National Park starts just up the road. Coniston, Windermere, and Hawkshead are all within a half hour drive. Cartmel is about twenty minutes away if you fancy the races or its famous sticky toffee pudding.

The cottage has a washing machine, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair. We allow up to two well-behaved dogs.

For planning days out, the National Trust site is useful, and so is the official Visit Lake District page.
