The Vicarage

The Vicarage is in Lowick Bridge, down a lane off the B5285. It's a big detached stone house from 1767. There's a garden all around it, and the view from the front is over fields to the fells. It's very quiet.

It sleeps up to thirteen people in seven bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. The stairs are the original ones, so they're a bit steep and turn tightly. You get used to it.

There's a local pub about five hundred yards up the lane in Lowick. They do good food. The nearest shop is about two miles away in Greenodd.

Coniston Water is about two miles away for sailing or a walk by the lake. The village of Coniston itself is a twenty minute drive. Ulverston is a proper market town, about five miles. It's got shops, a few museums, a sports centre with a pool, and a golf course.

You're well placed for the Southern Lakes. Windermere and Bowness are about half an hour away by car. Grizedale Forest is close for walking or hiring mountain bikes. Morecambe Bay is about two and a half miles if you fancy seeing the sands.

For facilities: there's parking for several cars, a wood burning stove, a washing machine, a dishwasher, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. We can take one well-behaved dog.

If you're planning walks or days out, these sites are useful: Lake District National Park and National Trust Lake District.
