The Vicarage

The Vicarage is a big old house near Coniston. It's down a lane, away from the road. You've got your own garden.

It sleeps thirteen, in seven bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. One's downstairs. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable but it's not a hotel. It was built in 1767, so the doors are low in some places and the floorboards creak. That's just how it is.

The kitchen is big, with a proper dining table. There's a woodburning stove in the sitting room. We supply the wood. You get WiFi and a TV. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, and a cot and highchair if you need them. Parking for a few cars on the drive. You can bring a dog.

The pub in Lowick, The Farmers Arms, is a five minute walk. They do good food. For a shop, you'd drive to Spark Bridge or Ulverston.

Coniston Water is about two miles away for sailing or just being by the lake. Grizedale Forest is close, good for walking or hiring mountain bikes. Ulverston is a proper market town about five miles away. It's got a swimming pool, shops, and the Laurel and Hardy museum.

You can get to Coniston village in twenty minutes by car. Windermere and Bowness are about half an hour. Morecambe Bay is two and a half miles the other way, for sea fishing or walking on the sands.
