The Station Masters House

The Station Master's House is, as it sounds, the old station master's house for Torver station. The railway line's gone now, so it's quiet. The cottage is detached.

It's in Torver, which is a small village just outside Coniston. You're about a mile from Coniston Water. It's a good spot if you want to walk up the Old Man or just be in that part of the Lakes without being right in the middle of a town.

It sleeps five. There are two bedrooms. One is a double, the other is a double with an extra single bed in it. There's one bathroom with a shower. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well looked after.

The garden is partly on the old station platform. It's a raised, lawned area. It's enclosed, which is useful if you have a dog or children. You can sit out there.

There's a pub about 100 yards away. It serves food. The nearest shop is about two and a half miles away in Coniston, so you'll likely need to drive for groceries.

Coniston village is close, maybe two miles. Hawkshead is about four miles. Grizedale Forest is about a ten minute drive for walking or cycling. For steam boat trips on Coniston, the Gondola runs from March. The National Trust has information on the area.

Facilities: it has a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking. You can bring one dog. There's a cot if needed.
