Souterstead
Souterstead is in Torver. It's a detached cottage, so you're on your own out there. It's about halfway between Coniston village and the lake itself.
It sleeps six people. Three bedrooms, all with their own bathrooms. That's useful if you've got a few couples staying. It's a 4 Star place, so it's well kitted out. The floors downstairs are slate with underfloor heating. They're cold first thing in the morning until it kicks in.
The living room has French doors that open onto the garden, which looks out over fields. There's a wood burner. The kitchen has everything, including one of those boiling water taps and a wine cooler. There's a separate room with a big TV if people want to do their own thing.
We allow one well-behaved dog. There's an outside tap for cleaning up muddy paws. The garden is enclosed, but check the gates because some dogs are escape artists.
Coniston village is a couple of miles away. It's got shops, cafes, and a couple of pubs. The Steam Yacht Gondola sails from there. Hawkshead is about ten minutes by car. There are two pubs within half a mile of the cottage that are dog friendly.
For walking, you've got Coniston Old Man right there. Grizedale Forest is a short drive away for mountain biking or the treetop trails. You're right on the edge of the Lake District National Park, so the walking is straightforward to find. Coniston Water is a five minute drive for kayaking or sailing.
Facilities: it's got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and parking for a few cars. Bedding and towels are included. There's a patio with furniture.
