Whistling Green is in Ulpha, in the Duddon Valley. It's part of a traditional farmhouse, the other side is where we live. You have your own entrance and a private garden area. The main garden is half an acre and shared, but you'll likely have it to yourself. The views up the valley are very good. There are sheep on the moorland around the house.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms. One bathroom with a shower. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable, not flashy. The living room has beams and wood floors with rugs. It gets the sun in the afternoon.
The River Duddon is right next to the property. Wordsworth wrote about it. It's a quiet valley, not as busy as the central lakes.
For a pub, the nearest one serving food is about three miles up the valley. It's a good one.
Coniston Water is about a 20-minute drive. Windermere is about half an hour. The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway is worth a trip if you've got children, that's about 25 minutes by car. Hardknott Pass is a famous, very steep drive from here, which takes you to the Roman fort. Only attempt it if you're confident on narrow roads.
If you want a beach, Silecroft is about eight miles away. It's sand and shingle.
In terms of what's here: there's a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking and an electric vehicle charger. There's bike storage if you bring them. You can fish locally within five miles.
