Whistling Green

Whistling Green is part of our farmhouse in Ulpha. It's the wing to the left if you're looking at the building. We live in the other part. You'll have the place to yourselves.

It's two bedrooms and sleeps four. One bathroom with a shower. It's been rated 4 Star. It's comfortable but not a show home. You're on a farm, so there will be bits of mud sometimes.

The big living room has beams and a wood burner. The floor is wood with rugs. The view from the front is up the Duddon Valley. It's all open moorland. There are sheep in the fields, so you'll need to shut the gate.

You share about half an acre of garden with us. There's a patio area with a barbecue. Parking is right outside. We've put in an electric vehicle charger.

The road outside is quiet, but it is a working farm lane. The river Duddon is at the bottom of the field. Wordsworth liked it around here.

For a pint and food, the nearest proper pub is about three miles up the valley. The closest shop is half a mile away in the village.

You're right in the middle of good walking. The fells start at the end of the lane. Coniston Water is a 20 minute drive for sailing. Windermere is about half an hour.

If you've got a good car and a steady nerve, the Hardknott Pass road goes over to the Roman fort. It's a single track with very steep bits. The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway is about 40 minutes away, good for families.

Facilities wise: it's got WiFi, a TV, dishwasher, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. No pets, I'm afraid.
