Foldgate Corney

Foldgate is our place near Corney, in West Cumbria. It's a converted farmhouse, so it's big. Sleeps up to twelve people. There are five bedrooms and four bathrooms, which helps with a big group.

It's quite remote. The lane up to it is narrow. You look out over fields towards Black Combe and the fells. There's a decent bit of garden and a patio with furniture. Inside, there are flagstone floors and wooden beams. We've put in a wood burner and kept an open fire in the other room. It's warm and dry.

Because it's old, the doors are low in a couple of places. You'll need to duck. The WiFi works, but it's not super fast because of the location. There's plenty of parking.

The local pub is about a mile down the lane. It's a proper walkable mile, not a main road. Bootle village is a bit further, about a mile and a half. They've got a small shop and a café.

The coast is close, two miles or so. Drigg beach is good for sand and walking the dog. You can be at Wastwater in about twenty minutes, or Ennerdale Water in half an hour. Ravenglass is about five miles away, which has the steam railway. For a day out, the Muncaster Castle estate is nearby too.

In terms of stuff, it's got what you'd expect: washing machine, dishwasher, TV, a cot and highchair. You can bring two dogs. All the bedding and towels are included.
