Birkerthwaite Barn is my place up at Beckfoot. It's one of a few cottages on an old farmstead. You get your own parking.
It sleeps two. One bedroom with a four poster bed, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating so it's comfortable and well kitted out. The track up to it is unmade, so it's a bit bumpy. Fine for normal cars, just take it steady.
The kitchen is a good size. There's a woodburning stove for when it gets chilly. The bedroom is up on a galleried landing, so the ceiling is high. You look out over the fields and moors. You can see Scafell from the windows.
The local pub is about two and a half miles down the road. The nearest shop is in Eskdale Green, three miles away.
For walking, you're right in the middle of it. Wast Water is a short drive. You can get to Hardknott Roman Fort, or drive over the passes to Langdale and Ambleside. The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway is nearby if you fancy a steam train. Muncaster Castle is worth a visit.
There's WiFi, a TV, a washing machine. Bedding is included. You can bring one well-behaved dog. The garden is enclosed.
