This is Birkerthwaite Barn, near Beckfoot. It's part of an old farmstead up a rough track. Very quiet, just fields and moorland. You can see Scafell from the garden.
It sleeps two, one bedroom. Four Star rating. It's comfortable but not flashy. The beams in here are old ship timber. There's a four-poster bed upstairs on a galleried landing. The kitchen is a decent size.
You get the basics: wifi, TV, a washing machine. There's a woodburning stove, which is good for the evenings. The garden is enclosed, so it's fine for one dog. Parking is right outside.
There's a pub about two and a half miles away. The nearest shop is three miles. You'll want a car.
For walking, you're right in it. Wast Water is a short drive. For a day out, you can drive over Hardknott Pass to Ambleside or Langdale. It's a steep, single-track road with great views, but not for a nervous driver. The Ravenglass Railway is good if you like steam trains. You've got Muncaster Castle and the Hardknott Roman Fort nearby too.
