It's called Ugly Duckling Cottage because when I bought it, it was a bit of an eyesore. It's much nicer now. It's on a quiet lane in Broughton in Furness.
It's a one-up-one-down stone cottage for two people. One bedroom with a kingsize bed, and an en-suite shower room. You come in straight into the living room. There's a sofa, a TV, and the Wi-Fi is fine. The stairs go up from there. They're stone and a bit uneven, like most old cottages round here.
The kitchen is through an archway. It's got a fridge, a small oven and hob, and a dishwasher. Enough to make a meal. There's a dining table for two.
The village has a couple of pubs that do food, a butcher, a baker, and a small Co-op. It's quiet. You can be on the fells or by the coast in about five minutes in the car. Coniston Water is about a quarter of an hour away. The Duddon Estuary is even closer, good for birdwatching.
You're well placed for the southern Lakes. Ulverston, Millom, and the start of the Walney Island coast are all within twenty minutes or so. For a bigger day out, you can drive into the central Lakes or over to the West Coast in under an hour.
Facilities: Everything's included - electricity, bedding, towels. There's a TV and Wi-Fi. You can bring one dog. There's parking for one car right outside.
