From the front door you can do a circular walk past some farm animals. The view from Foxfield, down the road, is worth it. The sun sets over the fells.
Coniston Water is about 15 minutes away by car. You can paddle or swim there. Ulverston is a 20 minute drive over the moor. It's a nice market town with shops and cafes.
Barrow-in-Furness is nearby for bigger shops, a cinema, and the Dock Museum. Furness Abbey is there too.
