Willow Cottage is in Spark Bridge, Cumbria. It's a small two-up-two-down. Sleeps four. One bathroom.
Honestly, it's old. That's the main thing. The walls are exposed slate inside, which looks nice but it's cold to touch. There's a wood burner in the main room and it really does heat the place. The room is open plan, so the kitchen and living area are all together. Good for chatting while someone cooks.
The stairs are a thing. They're narrow and they twist. The first set goes up to the bathroom and one bedroom. Then there's a second, smaller set of stairs up to the main bedroom. You need to watch your head on the beams.
Outside, there's a little private patio. It looks onto a big shared garden. At the bottom of the garden is the River Crake. You can hear it from the house. It's peaceful.
The local pub is literally two doors up. They do food. Ulverston is about five miles away. It's a proper market town with cobbled streets and shops. They have festivals through the year and a Laurel and Hardy museum.
Coniston Water and the southern Lakes are about a twenty minute drive. Bowness-on-Windermere is maybe half an hour. So you're not right in the thick of the main tourist bits, but you can get to them easily.
It's got a 3 Star rating. It's clean and it works. There's WiFi, a TV, a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
