Byways is in Cartmel village. It's down a quiet lane that only really goes to a few other houses.
It's a two-bedroom cottage that sleeps four, with one bathroom. It has a 4 Star rating. The stairs are steep and turn a corner, which is common in these old places. There's a door at the bottom you can shut.
The front door is a stable door, which is nice on a warm day. The lounge has a sofa and chairs for four, a TV, and an electric stove that looks like a wood burner. The kitchen is new, it was done in 2022. It has a dishwasher, a washer/dryer, and a fridge-freezer. The shower room is on the ground floor.
Upstairs, there's a double bedroom at the front and a bunk bed room at the back. From the back bedroom you can see the top of Cartmel Priory. You can fit a travel cot in there if you need one.
Outside, there's a wooden bench by the front door. At the back, there's a useful storage area where you can put bikes or walking gear.
You're right in the middle of the village. There are shops, pubs, and the famous sticky toffee pudding shop a very short walk away. The Priory is around the corner. The racecourse and its woods are good for a flat walk.
For wider days out, Grange-over-Sands is about five minutes by car. The southern Lake District, like Windermere and Coniston, is within a 30-minute drive. Morecambe Bay and the coast are close too.
Facilities: WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. A cot, highchair, and stairgate are there if you need them. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
