Cartmel Cottage
This is Cartmel Cottage in Meathop. It's one of six flats converted from a big old country house, so the rooms feel spacious. The house is up on a bit of a rise, so you get long views from here out towards Morecambe Bay and the hills.
It sleeps four, with two bedrooms and a bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well looked after. You can bring one dog.
The house is set in ten acres of grounds you can use. There's a proper garden patio area for the cottage. Inside, you've got a washing machine, TV, and all your bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside.
A pub that does food is about five minutes walk down the lane. The nearest shop for basics is a few miles away in Grange-over-Sands.
You're about twenty minutes by car from the south end of Windermere. Cartmel village itself is close, with the Priory and the famous racecourse. Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall are both within a fifteen minute drive for a day out. Grange-over-Sands is a quiet little seaside town about three miles west.
It's a good spot if you want to explore the southern Lakes without being right in the middle of it. You can get to Coniston, Ulverston, or the Furness peninsula all within half an hour.
