The Dairy

The Dairy is on our farm, Brackenthwaite, in Yealand Redmayne. It's a one-bedroom annexe we converted from the old dairy building. It sleeps two, in one super king bed that can be split into twins if you ask when you book.

It's got a 5 Star rating. That basically means everything is new, works properly, and it's well finished. The main room is open plan with tall ceilings. There are original beams. The stairs up to the mezzanine bedroom are a proper farmhouse ladder, so they're steep. You need to be steady on your feet.

The kitchen is a good size and has everything you'd need. You eat at the breakfast bar. The bathroom has underfloor heating.

There's a wood burner for cold nights. The unique feature is in the floor: there's an old well with a glass top over it. It has lights that change colour. It's a talking point.

Outside, there's a seating area right outside the door that catches the evening sun. That opens onto the Orchard, which is a shared space. You can let dogs off there. There's a hammock and a tree swing. You're welcome to walk around the one-mile farm trail. You'll see our pet pigs, sheep, goats, and chickens. Sometimes there are fresh eggs available.

We allow up to two dogs. There's a charcoal BBQ you can use. Parking is right next to the property.

The location is the main thing. We're in the Arnside and Silverdale National Landscape. You can walk straight out from the door. RSPB Leighton Moss is about five minutes by car. There are several National Trust places nearby, like Levens Hall and Sizergh Castle. The coast at Morecambe Bay is close. If you want the lakes, Lake Windermere is about half an hour's drive.

There's a local pub in the village, and a golf course. If you need a bigger shop, Carnforth is about ten minutes away.
