The Bothy
The Bothy is in Yealand Redmayne, in Lancashire. It's a detached place. It used to be a bull shed. We fixed it up a few years ago so it's warm and dry now, but you can still see some of the old stonework inside.
It sleeps four. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms, which is handy. One bedroom is downstairs, with its own wet room. The other is upstairs with a big bed. Both bathrooms are wet rooms, so the whole place is on one level if steps are a problem. The stairs to the upstairs bedroom are there, but they're just normal stairs.
You've got a small patio garden out the back. It's a sun trap in the afternoon. Inside, there's a proper kitchen with a dishwasher, a TV, wifi, and parking right outside.
We take one well-behaved dog. There's bedding and towels for you.
It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's comfortable and everything works, but it's not a show home. It's a place to come back to after being out.
The nearest pub is about a mile away, in Yealand Conyers. They do food. The shop is further, in Carnforth, so it's best to come prepared.
You're in a good spot here. Morecambe Bay is ten minutes by car. You can walk along the promenade or get out on the sands. The Arnside and Silverdale area is right there too, which is all woods and coastline.
If you want the Lake District, it's about twenty minutes to get to Windermere. The Yorkshire Dales are about the same drive the other way. Leighton Moss RSPB reserve is very close if you like birdwatching.
