Lythdene is on a quiet little road in Grange over Sands. It's a terraced Victorian house, so it's got its original features, but it's been done up inside. The decoration is light and simple.
It sleeps five people. There are three bedrooms upstairs, two doubles and a single. They all have the old fireplaces, which we've left as they are. There's one family bathroom.
Downstairs is all open plan. Oak floors, a kitchen area, a dining table, and sofas facing a gas wood burner. It's a good space if you're all in together. The back has a small, enclosed courtyard. You can sit out there if you get the sun. Parking is on the street out the front, but it's a cul-de-sac so it's usually fine.
You're about a five minute walk from the centre of Grange. It's a quiet, Edwardian sort of place. The promenade is flat and good for a level walk by the bay. For a proper beach, you'd need to drive.
The area is good for gardens and birdwatching. There are a few reserves along the coast. For walking, Hampsfield Fell is right next door and gives you a great view on a clear day. You can see the Coniston fells and Helvellyn from there.
Cartmel is a ten minute drive. It's famous for the racecourse and the priory. There are some good places to eat there too.
The facilities are what you'd expect. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, towels and bedding are provided. It has a 4 Star rating, which means it's well equipped and comfortable. The entrance is step-free, so it's suitable for wheelchair access.
