Dunmail House

Dunmail House is in Allithwaite. It's a family house, not a cottage. We did it up a few years ago. It sleeps six, three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well equipped.

The garden is tiered, so it's on different levels. There's a patio with outdoor furniture. You get good sunsets from there.

The pub is directly across the road. They do food. There's a village shop a few minutes walk away.

You're about two miles from Grange-over-Sands. Cartmel village is the same distance, famous for its priory and the racecourse. The Lake District National Park starts a short drive away. Lake Windermere is about nine miles.

For a local walk, Humphrey Head is under two miles. It's a limestone headland with a circular path and views over the bay. The story goes the last wolf in England was seen there.

Within half an hour you can be in Kendal, Bowness, or Windermere. Holker Hall and Sizergh Castle are nearby if you like that sort of thing.

Facilities: there's parking on the drive. Wi-Fi, TV, a wood burner and an open fire. Washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome.
