Dunmail House is in Allithwaite, Cumbria. It's our family house that we finished renovating a few years ago. You get the whole place to yourselves.
It sleeps six, in three double bedrooms. They all have good views out over the fields. There are two bathrooms, one is a wet room on the ground floor which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped.
The pub is literally across the road. They do food and it's very handy. The village shop is a five-minute walk. For a bigger shop, Grange-over-Sands is less than two miles down the road. They've got a nice promenade and gardens there.
Cartmel village is also two miles away. That's where the priory is, and the racecourse. You can walk to Humphrey Head from here, it's about two miles. It's a limestone headland with a nature reserve and good views over the bay.
You're right on the edge of the Lake District here. Lake Windermere is about nine miles, so maybe twenty minutes in the car. Kendal, Windermere, and Bowness are all within a half-hour drive. Holker Hall and Sizergh Castle are close by too.
The house has a wood burner in the sitting room and an open fire in the dining room. The garden is tiered, so there are a couple of different patio areas. It gets the evening sun. We leave some maps and books for people to use.
Facilities: there's parking for two cars on the drive, WiFi, a dishwasher, washing machine, cot and highchair. Bedding and towels are included. We accept up to two well-behaved dogs.
