The Dormouse is in Newby Bridge. It's part of a set of cottages that belong to The Swan hotel. You have your own bit of terrace outside.
It sleeps four, in three bedrooms. They're all ensuite, which is handy. The rating is 5 Star, so it's kitted out to a good standard. It feels quite new.
Because it's part of the hotel, you can use the spa and leisure facilities at The Swan. Their restaurant is there too if you fancy a night off cooking.
Newby Bridge itself is quiet. There's a local pub. For a big shop, you'd drive to Ulverston or back towards Windermere.
You're well placed for getting around the southern lakes. Windermere is about a 15 minute drive. You can get lake cruises from there, or from Lakeside which is even closer. The Lakeside and Haverthwaite steam railway is right there too.
Cartmel is ten minutes away. Famous for the sticky toffee pudding, the racecourse, and some very good restaurants. Holker Hall and Gardens are a short drive as well.
If you're here for the outdoors, the location is good. You're near the bottom of Windermere for water sports, and there are plenty of walking routes straight from the door. Grizedale Forest is nearby for cycling.
Facilities wise: it has a wood burner, parking, a washing machine, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's a hot tub on the terrace. It takes up to two dogs. They provide a cot and highchair if needed.
These cottages can be booked together with a few others if you're coming as a bigger group.
