The Hedgehog
The Hedgehog is in Newby Bridge. It's one of four cottages next to The Swan hotel. You can use the hotel's spa, pool and restaurant, which is handy.
It sleeps six. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating, so it's well-finished. There are two bedrooms with kingsize beds and their own bathrooms, one more kingsize bedroom, and a kids' bunk room with a TV and a PS4.
The kitchen is big and has a dining table and a breakfast nook. There's a wood burner in the sitting room. Outside, there's a private terrace with an outdoor fireplace and a hot tub.
In terms of location, you're right at the bottom of Windermere. You can get lake cruises from Lakeside, which is a couple of minutes down the road. The Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway steam train runs there too, and stops at the aquarium. Cartmel village, with its racecourse and the sticky toffee pudding shop, is about ten minutes by car.
For walking, you're close to the southern fells. For a historic day out, Holker Hall is nearby. All the usual Lake District stuff, like kayaking or climbing, is within easy reach.
Facilities include all the things you'd expect: parking, wifi, a washing machine, a cot and highchair. It's pet friendly for up to two dogs. Bedding and towels are included.
