2 West Cottage
This is 2 West Cottage, on the eastern edge of Blakeney village. It's a terrace cottage, end of the row. There's a small walled garden at the back, south facing. You get the sun.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom. It's 4 Star, which means it's comfortable and well kept. The stairs are a spiral, metal type. Fine for most, but watch your head. You get used to it.
The village has a shop for basics and a couple of pubs. The main thing is you're right on the edge of the Forest of Dean. You can walk straight out the door onto tracks. For organised things, like the cycle centre or zip wires, you drive. It's about a 10 minute drive to the main forest visitor centre at Beechenhurst.
If you want to get out on the water, the River Wye is close. Symonds Yat is about 15 minutes by car. Good for a walk and a pint by the river.
For a day out, Gloucester Cathedral is worth a look, that's about half an hour. Or you can head the other way into Wales, Tintern Abbey is similar drive. Cheltenham is about 40 minutes if you want shops.
Inside, there's a wood burning stove in the front room. The kitchen has a dishwasher. There's parking for one car on the gravel next to the cottage. Bedding and towels are included. One small dog is allowed.
