Paradise
Paradise is a big detached house on a normal street in Cinderford. Honestly, it’s called Paradise but I didn’t name it – the last owner did. It’s just off the high street, so you can walk to a shop, a pub, and a couple of places to eat in about five minutes.
It sleeps twelve in six bedrooms. They all have their own shower room, which is the main thing for a group that size, to stop queues. Three of the bedrooms are downstairs, which is good if stairs are a problem for anyone.
The main thing is the space. There’s a big living room and a separate dining room with a table that seats sixteen. The kitchen has an island and plenty of worktop. I put a big air fryer in there because, well, they are useful.
Outside, there’s a deck with a hot tub. At the back, in a separate shed, you’ve got the washing machine and tumble dryer, and room to store bikes. There’s parking for four cars on the drive.
For the Forest of Dean, the location is handy. You’re in the town, so you’ve got the basics, but you’re five minutes’ drive from the forest itself. Puzzlewood and Clearwell Caves are about ten minutes away by car. For mountain biking, you can drive to the trails or cycle from the house if you’re confident on the roads.
If you want to go further, Monmouth and Chepstow are about twenty-five minutes’ drive. The Dean Forest Railway at Norchard is ten minutes away. Goodrich Castle, which is English Heritage, is about twenty.
It’s a 4 Star property. That means it’s well-equipped and comfortable. All bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot and a highchair if you need them. No pets, sorry.
