The Chaff House is a converted farm building on our dairy farm in Arlingham. It's part of a small group of three barns. You're in the middle of a big bend in the River Severn here, so you get views across to the Cotswold escarpment and the Forest of Dean.
It sleeps five in three bedrooms. There's one bathroom with a shower. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's been done up nicely inside, it's warm and comfortable. The main space is open plan. There's a woodburning stove for the colder months.
You're staying on a working farm. That means you'll see and hear cattle and farm machinery during the day. We can arrange clay pigeon shooting on the farm at weekends if you book it with us in advance.
There's a local pub about a quarter of a mile away, down a woodland footpath. They do food. Another good pub, known for seafood, is also walking distance. You've got parking right outside the barn.
The river runs along the edge of the farm for about two miles. There are footpaths right from the door and some nice spots for a picnic. For a longer walk, you can pick up the Severn Way. Frampton-on-Severn village is close by, it's got a very long village green, a couple of pubs and a shop.
Within half an hour's drive you've got a few places. Slimbridge Wetland Centre is great if you like birds. Berkeley Castle is nearby. Gloucester has the cathedral and the docks. Cheltenham is about 25 minutes for the shops or the racecourse.
For things to do, these sites are useful: National Trust Gloucestershire, Forest of Dean & Wye Valley, and Cotswolds.com.
