Appletree Barn
Appletree Barn is in Ayleford, in the Forest of Dean. It's a detached barn conversion on our smallholding. It's quiet here. The main thing you hear is birds.
It sleeps two. One bedroom, one wet room shower. It's got a 5 Star rating. The living space is open plan and it's all on one level, with no steps. There are patio doors from the living room and the bedroom that open onto the patio. The underfloor heating works well.
The patio is big and enclosed. The view looks out over the valley. On a clear day you can see the River Severn and Gloucester Cathedral in the distance. You can walk straight into the forest from the garden gate.
For facilities: there's a washing machine in a utility area outside, along with bike storage and a hose for cleaning bikes off. Inside there's a dishwasher, a smart TV, and WiFi. Towels and bedding are included. There's parking right by the barn.
The Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley are right here. For walking, the Forest of Dean website has trail maps. Puzzlewood and the Sculpture Trail are about 15 minutes away by car. Tintern Abbey is over the border in Wales, maybe a 25 minute drive. The English Heritage site has details. For something different, you can watch the Severn Bore come up the river, the times are published online.
If you want to go further, Cheltenham is about 40 minutes drive. Gloucester is half an hour.
