Perivale Lodge is a detached house near Lydney, in the Forest of Dean. It's a 5 Star, which means it's well looked after. It sleeps six, with three bedrooms and one bathroom.
The lodge is on a bit of land with a two acre field, which is completely fenced in. It's good for dogs. We let three dogs stay. There's a warm water hose outside to clean them off, and a small entrance area inside for wet coats and boots.
There are open ponds on the land and some steep slopes, so you do need to keep an eye on children. The field is safe for dogs, though.
Inside, it's open plan and comfortable. It's been recently done up. You get a cot, a highchair, and a stairgate. There's a TV, wifi, and parking. Bedding and towels are included.
Outside, there's a patio and garden. It's enclosed. There's a barbecue and a fire pit.
The nearest pub is about a mile away. There's a golf course locally and fishing nearby.
You're right on the edge of the Forest of Dean. The walks from the gate are excellent. The Dean Forest Railway station is close by. You can get a day ticket to explore the area by steam train.
It's a good base. Chepstow and its castle are about 15 minutes away. Symonds Yat and the Wye Valley are maybe 20 minutes. For a bigger trip, you can be in Cardiff in under an hour.
