The Chicken Coop is here on our farm in Hewelsfield. It's one of three cottages converted from the old farm buildings. This one is all on the ground floor.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with TVs. There's a wet room rather than a standard bathroom, which is useful if you have anyone who finds steps tricky. The main door is wheelchair accessible too.
The kitchen is a good size and modern, you've got everything you need in there. The living area is open plan with a wood burner. It gets a proper glow going in the winter. You come in through a little porch, handy for boots.
Outside, there's a big garden that you share with the other cottage, The Old Granary. There's plenty of room so it never feels crowded. There's an interconnecting door between the two cottages as well, which groups sometimes book together.
Being a farm, you'll see animals around. Sheep in the fields, chickens wandering about. It's quiet, just country sounds.
The local shop is about a mile and a half away, so you'll want to bring what you need or be prepared to drive. The nearest pub is two miles, the Wye Valley Inn. They do food.
For things to do, you're right on the edge of the Forest of Dean. Good for walking and cycling. Chepstow with its castle is about a fifteen minute drive. Monmouth and Tintern Abbey are in easy reach too, maybe twenty minutes. If you want a proper day out, you can be in the Wye Valley or up onto the Brecon Beacons within half an hour.
In terms of what's here, it's all included: bedding, towels, wifi, parking right outside. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, a cot and highchair if needed. No pets, sorry.
A couple of links if you're looking into the area: Forest of Dean District Council for local walking trails, and Wye Valley for general information.
